XD Series Supporting Car Electronics / The XD series supports Automotive Quality Grade with testing based upon AEC-Q100.

Torex’s automotive products (XD series) comply with the guidelines of AEC-Q100.
This standard, which was established by the AEC (Automotive Electronics Council), prescribes reliability tests and quality tests for integrated circuits. Stricter requirements are adopted than for consumer electronics to ensure high quality in automotive products.
When a problem occurs, a traceability system enables a quick response, including tracing of the product and analysis at bases inside the country.

Examples of applications of automotive products

XD6133 was used for sequencing controls of three different power rails (in order of ①,②, and ③)
The reason for the adoption was that it supports AEC-100 Compliant, Sensing terminal and flexibility to set the delay times.
As the voltage detector which is built in MCU is less flexible for the settings of detection, the discreate voltage detectors like XD6133 enable more precious sequence controls.

Key points when selecting ICs for car electronics

A variety of component selection techniques are necessary for car electronics.
Two points of the selection know-how we have developed as a professional group specializing in power ICs, are introduced below.

1.Points for avoiding radio-band noise interference

To avoid switching regulator frequency interference

A switching regulator periodically switches the current ON/OFF to convert the output to a desired output voltage. This provides higher efficiency than a linear regulator which loses some power as heat when converting the output voltage, but also has the disadvantage of switching-generated noise. In particular, interference with AM radio frequencies is a problem.

One method for improving interference problems is selecting a high-frequency DC/DC converter.

2.Key points in avoiding car battery depletion

Prevention of false detection of reset is possible

Torex’s XD6132/XD6133 series are voltage detectors that operate at 6V, and the detection voltage, release voltage, and hysteresis width can be set as desired using external resistances. This makes these detectors ideal for battery voltage monitoring. Because any hysteresis width and detection/release delay time can be set, false detection of reset can be prevented even when the battery voltage fluctuates due to cranking.
