TOREX SEMICONDUCTOR LTD. (Tokyo Japan: President, Tomoyuki Fujisaka) has developed the XC9252 series of 105°C step-down DC/DC controllers with 30V operation and a low supply current.

This is a high breakdown voltage product with an input voltage of 30V, input rating of 36V, and a peak voltage of 46V for 400ms. The input voltage range is wide, from 3.0V to 30V, and the P-ch MOS driver Tr. is controlled to provide a stable output voltage even when the dropout voltage is small. The output voltage can be set to any value from 1.5V up using external resistors (RFB1, RFB2). The operating temperature range is from -40°C up to +105°C.
PWM/PFM auto switching control realizes high efficiency over the entire load range, from light loads to heavy loads. A low supply current is achieved to increase efficiency at light loads, making this controller ideal for a variety of applications.  
The switching frequency can be set to any value from 280kHz to 550kHz by connecting an external resistor to the ROSC pin. Using the MODE/SYNC pin, unnecessary noise can be suppressed by synchronizing to an external clock within a range of ±25% of the internal clock.  
The advantages of a controller IC make it possible to satisfy a wide range of power supply specifications. General purpose products can be selected for the external components as appropriate for the application, and the scale of the circuitry can be minimized.  
Any value can be set for the soft start time by adding an external capacitor to the SS pin. A UVLO function that forcibly turns off the driver Tr when the input voltage is 2.5V or less is incorporated. As protective circuits, an over-current protection circuit, short-circuit protection circuit and thermal shutdown circuit are incorporated to enable safe use.  
This series is an environment-friendly product that complies with the EU RoHS Directive and is Pb-free.
