Torex Semiconductor Ltd. ((Tokyo Japan: President, Koji Shibamiya, 6616: Prime Market at Tokyo Stock Exchange ) has won a prize in the Encouragement Award at "The Super Monodzukuri Parts Grand Award 2023" held by Monozukuri Nippon Conference and The Daily Industrial News.

About the Award-Winning Product: 400nA Ultra-Low Power DC/DC Converter XC9145 Series

The XC9145 Series is a compact, highly efficient DC/DC converter with an ultra-low consumption current of 400nA. By reducing the power consumption to as low as 400nA through an ultra-low consumption current circuit and employing PWM/PFM control, it has significantly improved efficiency, especially at light loads, by 50-60% compared to conventional DC/DC converters. With VIN=2.4V, VOUT=3.3V, and IOUT=10μA, the efficiency reaches 89.9%. This makes it suitable for power-efficient MCUs and SoCs, which are advancing low-power technologies. As a result, it significantly reduces the power consumption of devices, such as IoT devices and portable equipment, with a high proportion of standby time without the need for complex control, contributing to longer battery life. The ultra-low consumption current of 400nA minimizes losses due to self-consumption current even in super-light load conditions, achieving high efficiency.

This product is thoroughly dedicated to achieving high efficiency at super-light loads. The ultra-low consumption current of 400nA minimizes losses due to consumption current even in super-light load conditions, achieving high efficiency.

By adopting the PWM/PFM automatic switching control method and adjusting switching pulses according to the load current, it contributes to high efficiency by using the PFM control mode, which performs minimal switching to maintain the output voltage at light loads. Furthermore, this product minimizes power consumption to the extreme during PFM operation by stopping all unused PWM circuits and conducting circuit adjustments to consume only the minimal circuit current necessary for operation. This control method achieves high efficiency at super-light loads, which is not typically seen in conventional PFM products.
